First of all, I’d like to welcome all of you to my newly created blog! I hope that you will enjoy my political blog for as long as it exists.

Over the years I have simply gotten sick of turning on cable news in the morning, or in the evening and seeing the same garbage reported over and over again. The so-called national “mainstream media” is neither liberal nor conservative, it’s simply stupid. The regular political stories that they cover doesn’t even rise to the level of idiocy - the constant meaningless polls, discussion of “heroes”, presidential candidates verbally assailing one another and etc. And while all this junk is being wasted time on by the media, the public goes completely uninformed about the actual issues affecting the United States and the rest of the world. There is no meaningful discussion of health-care, foreign policy, environment, trade, economy, energy, stem cells, religion in public square and hundreds of other issues. Instead we get stories of sensationalism and utterly useless opinions from the political pundits whose job it is to misinform and terminally confuse the public and turn it away from participation in their own government.

The mainstream media has become virtually numb in informing the public of national issues affecting the country, which results in completely dysfunctional and unresponsive democratic institutions. The presidential candidates from both parties are being marketed as nothing more than puppets with talking points, whose function is to convey their political message in a pure sound-byte, which is meaningless to the voter but is a signal to special interest groups. It is no wonder that name recognition of candidates is one of the only indicators by which people are left to vote on. Concern for issues is neither of primary nor of secondary concern to the mainstream news. Issues are simply not a concern!

Enough is enough. It is time to marginalize the mainstream media the way it has marginalized the American public and the real issues affecting them. It is time to stand up to their corporate routine of reporting “pretend” news and the rest of the sensational junk. I simply refuse to let them distort the world anymore!
